Erik Madigan Heck Interprets Fall’s Brightest Hues

Many of the guiding themes from the fall runway — power suits, granny style, and gilded glamour — involved lustrous texture and deep color, whether set in heavy tweeds or airy chiffon. To capture the vibrant fabrics of the season, the Cut enlisted contributing fashion photographer Erik Madigan Heck to reimagine some of the boldest runway looks. Heck is known for his attention to detail, and his most recent project involved photographing Thom Browne's gothic fall collection. Heck created a new technique to invert sections of his prints, drawing out the miniscule features of the garments.

Heck's focus for this shoot was elegant and simple color. He captures a polka-dotted Bottega Veneta look, seen here, in high contrast to accentuate its eye-popping print. The buttery calf leather of a turquoise Gucci dress gleams under his lens, while the patchwork details on a Salvatore Ferragamo dress swirl in motion.
